Mt. Juliet Police arrested multiple people wanted across multiple jurisdictions last Friday during a series of traffic stops aided by license plate reader technology.
Charges ranged from drug possession to felony evasion, with suspects linked to crimes in other counties and even South Carolina.
On Friday, June 20, Mt. Juliet Police conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 40 for an expired license plate. The driver, Dallas Ferguson, 57, of Nashville, was wanted in two counties.
In Wilson County, Ferguson was wanted for failure to appear on charges of using stolen license plates and driving on a revoked license. In Putnam County, he was wanted for probation violation.
Officers reportedly also found methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.
Later that evening, an officer spotted a vehicle with a license plate associated with a person wanted in Smyrna. After confirming the identity of the driver and the active warrants, the vehicle was stopped.
The driver, Chelsea Simshauser, 32, of Goodlettsville, was wanted in Smyrna for misdemeanor vandalism, felony vandalism, theft and trespassing. She was taken into custody without incident.
Also on Friday, license plate readers alerted officers to a vehicle entering Mt. Juliet associated with a speeding incident on I-40 where the driver allegedly drove 115 mph and evaded police.
After locating the car and pulling it over, MJPD officers verified the driver as Julian Martinez, 21, of 快播视频, who police believe was the driver from the speeding incident. He was reportedly driving on a suspended license.
Martinez was arrested and charged with felony evading along with driving on a suspended license.
License plate readers also alerted officers to an SUV associated with a theft from the Mt. Juliet Planet Fitness on June 18. The suspect allegedly stole 鈥渋mportant items鈥 from a woman鈥檚 purse in a locker and escaped through an unlocked emergency exit.
With an active arrest warrant, police pulled the SUV over and confirmed the identity of 26-year-old Destiny Rice, of Nashville, who was also wanted in South Carolina on theft charges. She was also allegedly in possession of meth and fentanyl.
The driver, a 44-year-old Nashville man, was also found allegedly in possession of meth and fentanyl.
